Madhuri Dixit: Please don't spread rumours, I'm not contesting election

March 29, 2019
MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, diva of grace and glamour on the silver screen, has politely turned down suggestions that she might contest in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

“It is just a rumour. I am not contesting for any political party. I think I have already cleared the air on that matter,” she was quoted by a news agency as saying.

Reports had appeared in the press that the actress might contest the elections from Pune on BJP ticket.

However, Madhuri Dixit asserts that she is not aligned to any political party.

In 1990's she reached the zenith of her acting career. Some of her classics are 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' (1994), 'Dil To Pagal Hai' (1997) and 'Devdas' (2002).

She has just released her streaming film, '15 August' on Netflix. She had made another Marathi film, 'Bucket List', last year. She claims digital media has a wider reach, especially if it is like Marathi flicks. Her husband Dr Nene is a part of the film '15 August'.
