Twitter sends its V-P to attend parliamentary panel today | | Feb 25, 2019
NEW DELHI: Colin Crowell, Global vice-president of public policy for Twitter,
will appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Information Technology (IT)
on February 25, Twitter has stated.
The parliamentary panel had summoned Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to appear before
it on February 25, and had refused to meet "junior officials" at its meeting
on February 11.
The meeting was called over issues of citizens' data privacy and apprehensions
of social media being misused for political gains as elections are round the
corner.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will not appear before the Parliamentary panel on IT
on February 25, and instead the company is sending its Head of Public Policy
Colin Crowell, Twitter said.
"We thank the Parliamentary Committee for its invitation to hear Twitter's
views on 'safeguarding citizen rights on social/online news media platforms',"
said a Twitter spokesperson.
