PETA charges Bieber for playing with tiger at dad's engagement |
May 2, 2016
TORONTO: Animal rights activists have chastised pop star Justin Bieber (22) for posing with a tiger brought to a 'wild' party held for his father Jeremy Bieber’s (41) engagement with Chelsea Rebelo (28) in Toronto on Saturday. Dressed in ripped jeans and a buttoned-up shirt for the event, the Sorry singer posted his photo petting the large tiger on leash on Instagram on Sunday. Although, he looked hungover as he himself said.
The PETA said in a statement on Monday, "Justin Bieber is lucky not to have had
his throat torn out by this stressed captive tiger... Tigers used for photo ops are
torn away from their mothers shortly after birth, and the Bowmanville Zoo (in this
case), in particular, was caught whipping one tiger more than 17 times, even after
the cat was lying on his back in a position of submission and fear.”
The zoo denied all charges, although this is not the first time allegations have
been levelled against it. It said, “We find these charges to be completely
unwarranted and unsupported by the actual facts surrounding the allegations
against Mr. Hackenberger.” Michael Hackenberger is the owner of Bowmanville
Zoo. It did not confirm the Robbie tiger at Bowmanville used for public
entertainment is the same.
In Munich once customs officials had confiscated Bieber's pet monkey for not
having proper documents. |
