International Children's Film Festival in Bangalore

     The six-day International Children's Film Festival commenced here on Friday. As many as 69 films from India, Iran, China, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Italy, USA, Denmark and other countries will be screened in this festival. This is also the sixth edition of the Children's Film Festival organised by the Children's India, a non-profit organisation engaged in producing creative and interesting programmes for children. N R Nanjude Gowda, President of Children's India, said that through this festival they want to depict show the younger generation the diverse languages, culture and heritage of the world. "We want to show all languages and cultures because our younger generation need to understand and interact with different language. We have to prepare them to adjust and understand well with the globalisation and global culture," Gowda added. Apart from the participating producers from across the globe, the movie-goers liked the concept and said that the festival is a good opportunity to showcase the unique country of the region. A participant from China was all praise at the initiative of the organisers. "I think it is a very good opportunity to China to show its culture and contemporary society and contemporary children's emotion and feeling," said Wang Shan, a producer and coordinator of films from China. Among the Indian movies which will be screened at the festival are Pasanga (Tamil), Amulyam (Telugu), Bettadapurada Ditta Makalu (Kannada), Harun Arun (Gujarati) and Tsunami (Hindi). The foreign films are King Siri and Bindu (Sri Lanka ), Stars in the Estuary (USA), Child and the Angel (Iran), Walking to School and Magical Tortoise (China) and A Duelo, an animation film from Mexico. Alongside the screening of the movies, workshops on animation, a seminar on children's film movement in India, screening of environment films, and allied activities are the highlights of this festival.
