Amitabh Bachchan seeks tax exemption in Gujarat for film 'Paa' | Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan requested the Gujarat government to waive off tax on 'Paa', his latest film that
is based on the saga of a boy suffering from progeria. Bachchan said this after
he and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi watched the movie at a special screening
staged here on Wednesday. "It has taken all of us a lot of efforts in making of
this film and there are a lot many sensitive issues the film talks about. So we
wanted the Gujarat government to see it and if possible should grant tax exemption
for the film. That is the reason I am here, and I am grateful to the Chief Minister
also who took out his time to watch my film," said Bachchan. On the occasion,
Modi presented Bachchan a shawl and an artwork of Gujarat while in return he received
a book of poems composed by Harshavardhan Rai Bachchan, father of Amitabh. Modi
complimented the film industry for spreading the messages of goodwill. "I would
like to congratulate the Indian film industry, as it plays a major role to spread
the message of learning, brotherhood, unity and also it is a link between the
common man and the nation," he said. Bachchan also suggested Modi to promote the
tourism in Gujarat by saying he would volunteer in a documentary highlighting
the breathtaking locations in the state. |
