BJP to support UPA for any move against Maoists, says Gadkari

Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Gadkari here on Saturday assured the United Progressive Alliance Government of his party's full support for any move that it decides to take against the Maoists. Speaking on the first-day of BJP's national executive meet, Gadkari, however, slammed the Government on various other fronts on national importance. Gadkari raised many issues which included Maoist threat, the recent verdict of the Bhopal gas tragedy, militancy, the farm sectors, price rise and the strategic relationship between India and United States, organisational set-up of the party and current national scenario. On price-rise issue, Gadkari alleged that the spiraling price rise issue is the result of wrong economic policies and fiscal mismanagement. Talking about interal security, Gadkari blamed the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for being weak-kneed. Calling the Bhopal tragedy a saga of treachery, backstabbing and betrayal, Gadkari said that no words are powerful enough to condemn all those who mishandled the issue. Meanwhile, Gadkari assured that his party would welcome any move that will strengthen Indo-US relationship on the basis of protecting mutual interest and addressing each other's concerns. The two-day meet of Bharatiya Janata Party's National Executive Committee commenced here on Saturday to formulate its strategy ahead of the forthcoming State Assembly polls due in October. Senior party leader and National Democratic Alliance working chairman L K Advani, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, former BJP President Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, M Venkaiah Naidu and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley were present on this occasion.
