David Cameron promises special relationship with India | David Cameron, the newly elected Prime Minister of United Kingdom has promised to build a new social relationship with India and support New Delhi's proposal for a seat in
the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). In an article, Cameron has written
that he is committed to have a special relationship with India as being a key
regional player and a force for stability in a troubled part of the world. As
reported, India was the first country David Cameron visited as a Conservative
leader in 2006. David Cameron, the youthful leader, who modernized the party of
right-wing icon Margaret Thatcher, became the Prime Minister after the resignation
of Gordon Brown- capping a gripping election saga that returns the Tories to government
after 13 years of Labour Party rule. He took over as Britain's new Prime Minister
with the help of Liberal Democrats, who joined the country's first coalition government
in 70 years. The Conservatives emerged as the single largest party in the May
6 election that triggered the ending of the Labour Party's record 13 years in
office. Labour leader Gordon Brown submitted his resignation as Prime Minister
to Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday evening paving way for the 42-year-old Cameron to
take charge. |
