in West Bengal ’s Birbhum District. The clashes between two parties broke out
on Saturday. As per reports, clashes started at around six in the morning when
supporters of both parties came together, likely to assert their supremacy in
Nanoor region. The Nanoor region has seen the domination shift from the CPM to
the Trinamool Congress. The clash left around 50 cattle and a 25-year-old man
dead and over 450 huts charred. As per eyewitnesses, Trinamool Congress activists
barged into CPM-dominated Palundi village and fired indiscriminately and hurled
crude bombs, setting about 300 huts on fire. CPM activists in retaliation attacked
the Trinamool Congress -dominated villages of Sherpur and Thupsara. CPM activists
also set several houses on fire as locals fled, according to media reports. Police
have reportedly arrested five people without identifying their party affiliations.
The Trinmool Congress has been accusing the ruling Left Front of unleashing violence
