Mukul Wasnik to inaugurate 'Sambhav' tomorrow | Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik will inaugurate 'Sambhav', the National Resource Centre on Disability, in the national capital on Thursday. Being set up by the National Trust (a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice
and Empowerment) in partnership with its State Nodal Agency - Action for Ability
Development and Inclusion (AADI) and Sarthak, this Center will demonstrate assistive
devices and technology for the persons with disabilities (PWDs). This unique center
will provide the facilities for demonstrations and practical use of the displayed
items by persons with disabilities. It will help them in getting acquainted with
the devices and taking decisions for buying the particular device. The center
will offer information about the price, availability and usage of devices. National
Trust's objective of setting up the National Resource Center is to provide information
and knowledge, about assistive technology, for different life roles, at one place.
Assistive technology includes aids, adaptations, assistive devices, software's,
appliances and best practices in the country for persons with different disabilities.
Some of the different areas of life for which the assistive technology products
are displayed, are communication (enhancing listening, understanding and alternative
modes of communications); learning (play, concept teaching and self learning);
movement (transfers, supported walking, alternative methods of mobility, and outdoor
traveling); and just doing things (for well being, safety, eating, drinking self
care, home chores, work and managing money) being a few specified ones. |
