BJP leader spends night on street after eviction from official house | Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nand Kumar Sai, a Rajya Sabha member, spent the night on the street, outside his flat on Friday, as a mark of protest against being
evicted from government accommodation by the authorities. Sai was forcibly evicted from Flat number 176, South Avenue, that was allotted to him during his tenure
as a Lok Sabha member, but having lost the elections this year, he has had to
give up his seat and his official house. An angry Sai has demanded action against
those who evicted him for what he called 'wrongful action'. "I want to say that
the people behind this should be punished so that a similar thing does not take
place with any other MP. Strict action should be taken against the people who
have did this thing," said Sai. Sai was evicted on the grounds that since he was
no longer a Lok Sabha lawmaker, he was not entitled to that house. The flat was
allotted to Sai after he became a Lok Sabha lawmaker in 2004. Sai now claims that
the same flat was re-allotted to him by the Rajya Sabha secretariat after his
election to the upper house of Parliament in 2009. |
