New BJP office-bearers meet | New office-bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met on Thursday in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley
and party president Nitin Gadkari. Varun Gandhi and Smriti Irani also attended
the meeting. BJP had on March 16 announced a new team of office-bearers, consisting
of 121 members, including 13 Vice-Presidents, 10 General Secretaries, 15 Secretaries
and one Treasurer. The party appointed senior leaders Shanta Kumar, Kalraj Mishra,
Vinay Katiyar, Bhagatsingh Koshiyari, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Karuna Shukla Bijoya
Chakravarti, Purushottam Rupala and Kiran Ghai as BJP's Vice Presidents. Former
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Najma Heptullah and actor Hema Malini were also offered
the posts of Vice Presidents. Varun Gandhi and cricketer-turned politician Navjot
Singh Siddhu were made Secretaries of the party along with several others. BJP
stalwarts Arun Jaitley and Gopinath Munde, however, could not retain their positions
in Gadkari's new team. |
