Court fines Meera Rs 3,000 after counsel withdraws marriage dissolution plea |
Pakistani film actress Meera has been fined Rs. 3,000 by Family Court judge
Shazia Khalid,
after her counsel withdrew a petition seeking the dissolution of her purported
marriage with Attiqur Rehman. However, the Lollywood star and her family members'
interim bail has been extended until September 26 by an additional district and
sessions judge, reports the Daily Times. Meera, her mother Shafqat Zohra, father
Syed Muhammad Sarwar, brother Ahsan Abbas and brother-in-law Mushtaq Ahmad were
granted interim bail on September 6, in a case registered against them by Rehman.
The complainant alleged that they took away valuables worth thousands of rupees
from his house, and also hurled life threats at him. The accused, later, secured
pre-arrest bail in the case. Meanwhile, a private TV channel reported that renowned
lawyer and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Chairwoman Asma Jahangir would
represent Meera in court. |
