Jharkhand police swings into action following Maoist attack | The state police have swung into action following
the Maoist attack that took place on Thursday in Jharkhand's Gumla district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Gumla Narendra Kumar Singh said, "This is a very shameful incident.
But this is a clear-cut case of levy. The incident seems to be the outcome of
denial of levy by Hindalco. We will inquire on this matter at the earliest and
will give some result in the matter within a week." "People's Liberation Front
of India (PLFI) is behind this incident which is led by sub-zonal commander Bhushan
Lakra and Suresh Yadav," added Singh. Singh claimed the investigating teams have
taken down the initiative to track down the rebels. Earlier today, the Maoist
rebels set ablaze three trucks loaded with bauxite and gunned down an assistant
of a truck driver before burning him in Gumla district here. The incident took
place near Amaradhalan village between Visunpur and Ghaghra along the National
Highway in Gumla region, around 145 kilometers from Ranchi. The truck loaded with
bauxite was supposed to deliver the consignment at the Hindalco Plant (Hindustan
Aluminium Company). Rajendra Mahto, the helper of a truck driver was killed when
he tried to resist the ultras. The driver of the vehicle however managed to flee
from the spot. It is speculated that the mishap took place due to some public
interest issue between the Maoists and the Hindalco group. |
