Despite threats to Oz cricketers, Brett Lee says he is comfortable touring India

Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, who is in the national capital as part of a promotion campaign, has said that he is comfortable with touring India. Lee added that he was honoured and proud to be in India and always felt comfortable being in the country. Lee's remark came in reply to the threats made by Shiv Sena, where they have said that they would not allow Australian players to play in Mumbai or Maharashtra until attacks on Indians citizens in Australia are stopped. "About the issues that are happening at home and abroad, we will take the advice as a day-to-day thing. As I said, I feel comfortable touring India and being here. I hope the authorities make sure everything will be in place and I think there should not be any issue," Lee said. Clearing the air over the burning issue of racial attacks on Indians in Australia, Lee said that people thinking of visiting Australia are welcome and that it would be safe for them. "The things which happened in Australia are very sad...very sad to know of what happened but there has been a lot of media blew it up as well. I want to make it very clear, so just to mention that Australia is a very safe place to visit and we are working closely with the government. And I want to ensure that if people are thinking to visit Australia, or to Melbourne, Sydney or wherever they might be, that they are very safe and very-very welcome because we are a very multi-cultural country," Lee added. The attacks over the past 18 months, including the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old Indian graduate this month, have strained ties between the two countries.
