Rahul Gandhi meets Malaysian Prime Minister | Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Abdul Razak in New Delhi. The Malaysian Prime Minister's meeting
with Gandhi has reportedly raised speculation among the media and the diplomatic
community. There was no response from any government official with regard to today's
meeting. It has not been disclosed yet what was discussed at the meeting. Prime
Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday received Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammed
Najib Tun Abdul Razak, with full ceremonial honours. Razak, who is on a five-day
visit to New Delhi expressed hope that the visit would add 'impetus and vigour'
to the relationship between India and Malaysia. India and Malaysia signed agreements
on an extradition treaty and for collaboration in higher education in New Delhi
on Wednesday. The two sides have also signed treaties on extradition, a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) on higher education and another pact between Securities
and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Securities Commission of Malaysia. During
his visit, Razak is expected to meet President Pratibha Patil, Congress President
Sonia Gandhi and Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj. The Malaysian
Prime Minister met Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group Chairman Anil Ambani on Wednesday
and is reported to have discussed the possibility of investing in infrastructure
and media sectors in the South East Asian Nation. Razak also addressed leaders
of the corporate sector at a meeting hosted by Federation of Indian Chambers of
Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Several Cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, chief
ministers and members of Parliament have accompanied the Malaysian Prime Minister. |
