BSE, NSE to function at new timings | The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) new timings for trade from Monday will be 9 a.m. instead of 9:55 a.m. The
bourses
will close the trade at the usual time of 3:30 p.m. The decision to implement
the new trade timings was taken on December 18, 2009. Market regulator SEBI had
on October 23 permitted the stock exchanges to extend business hours from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. "Trading will start in equity segment of the BSE at 9 a.m. with effect
from January 4, 2010, Monday," said an NSE official. The BSE in a statement said,
"Based on the market feedback, it has been jointly decided by BSE and NSE that
the revision of market open timing to 9 a.m. shall be effective from January 4,
2010." In October 2009, the SEBI had allowed stock exchanges to fix trading
timings
between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. |
