Imran Khan sees foreign involvement in Karachi violence | Blaming foreign hands for the ghastly suicide attack on a Muharram procession in Karachi, in which over 40 people were killed, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan has asked the government to put in place a home-grown anti-terrorism policy rather than following the strategies of foreign countries. "The Karachi
incident is a conspiracy to start sectarian violence. The government's current
policy to deal with terrorism has failed.Terrorism has now spread across the country,"
The Dawn quoted Khan, as saying. He criticised the government, saying it has failed
miserably to protect the citizens of the country. "It is the government's duty
to provide security to the citizens. The administration has failed to do so in
Karachi where a large number of shops were burnt, causing losses worth billions
of rupees," the cricketer-turned politician said. He reiterated his demands for
conducting mid-term elections in the country. Khan further added that the Taliban
have contacted him, but said he will not hold any discussion with the banned terror
outfit without the government's consent. |
