We are awaiting more information about Headley: Krishna | External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said here on Wednesday that New Delhi was awaiting more information on US terror suspect, David Coleman Headley. Interacting
with the media outside the Parliament, Krishna said : "Well we have...the investigations
are on and we are looking forward to getting some information with reference to
this from United States intelligence agencies. We will wait for that." Krishna's
reaction came a day after a team of U.S federal investigators shared evidence
with India last week against Headley, also accused of plotting to attack a Danish
newspaper for publishing cartoons of Prophet Mohammad. The US investigating agency
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which arrested Headley and his associate
Tahawwur Rana in October, found that they were linked to last year's Mumbai attacks
that killed 166 people and re-ignited tensions with Pakistan. The U.S. prosecutors
charged him last week with scouting targets for the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba,
which is blamed for the November 2008 Mumbai attacks on hotels and a Jewish centre.
According to sources the U.S. investigators had shared evidence and some details
from Headley's interrogation, but more evidence was needed before the Pakistani-born
Chicago man could be charged in Indian courts. |
