TRS chief discharged from hospital

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao was discharged from hospital on Friday, after he broke his 11-day fast unto death. Rao was on a fast to press for his demand for a separate Telangana state to be carved out of Andhra Pradesh. The agitation for Telangana has resulted in series of violent incidents in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and also a couple of other places in Andhra Pradesh. Telangana region is spread over 10 northern districts of Andhra Pradesh. On Thursday, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had announced that the process to carve Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh would begin. The government's decision came after more than a week of violent protests that shut down business in Hyderabad , which is home to firms like Microsoft, Google and Mahindra Satyam. No decision has yet been made on whether Hyderabad will stay in Andhra Pradesh or move to Telangana. But the announcement on a new Telangana state brought up a fresh difficulty for the Centre. Cutting across party lines, 102 MLAs belonging to different political parties handed over their resignation letters to the State Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy this morning in protest against the Centre's decision to initiate the process for the formation of the Telangana State . Andhra Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the resignations have not been accepted yet. Earlier on Thursday, 93 legislators hailing from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions of Andhra Pradesh (AP) had also submitted their resignation letters to the Speaker of the House.
