Talks with militants necessary for Pak's survival: Imran Khan | Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has said that talks with the extremists are very necessary to prevent
further chaos in the country. "It is high time to enter into dialogue with the
militants to save the future of the nation, as it was the question of the very
survival of the country," The News quoted Khan, as saying. Talking to media persons
during a press conference, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief said that
while President Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai have supported holding
talks with the Taliban, Pakistan should also work to find a non-military solution
to the issue, which is threatening the very existence of the country. Responding
to a question , Khan said he is confident of striking a peace deal with the tribal
people, as they would not take him to be a puppet in the hands of the US. He urged
the government to convene an All Party Conference (APC) to find a solution to
the ever-expanding problem of terrorism, and added that Islamabad should also
declare its own foreign policy. "Now as the US government has unveiled its policy
on Afghanistan, the government of Pakistan should immediately call APC for formulating
a home-tailored policy on terrorism," Khan said. |
