Chidambaram says people in Telengana felt neglected | Union Home Minster P Chidambaram said here on Thursday that Telangana issue exposed how people felt neglected by the state government, despite having same language. Speaking at a seminar organised on the
occasion of International Human Rights Day here Chidambaram said : "Late last
night, the government announced that it will initiate the process to form a state
of Telangana." "That debate again exposes how people and region feel that they
have been neglected despite speaking the same language by the governments that
have ruled the state for many years," he added. In a desperate effort to stem
the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh after increased agitation
from the supporters of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti the Centre promised that a
motion for the creation of a new province would be brought up before the State
Assembly soon. Noting the ongoing debate on Liberhan Commission Chidambaram said,
the debate has exposed violation of rights of minorities. "That report exposes
how minority rights were violated by majoritarian view of the problem," he said. |
