Allahabad High Court cancels land allotted to Reliance's Dadri plant | The Allahabad High Court on Friday cancelled the land allotted to Anil Ambani's Reliance Natural Resources Limited (RNRL) for a gas-based thermal power plant at Dadri in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. In 2004, Mulayam
Singh Yadav led state government had allotted 25,000-acre land to the RNRL. The
land allotment was challenged by 47 farmers of Dadri village under the leadership
of former Prime Minister V P Singh. RNRL is also fighting a case related to the
gas supply to the Dadri plant against Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries Limited
(RIL) in the Supreme Court. On Thursday, Mulayam Singh Yadav raised the issue
of gas row between the Ambani brothers in the Lok Sabha making a strong plea for
gas from Reliance at cheaper rates for state-owned National Thermal Power Corporation
(NTPC). Yadav said Petroleum Minister Murli Deora's affidavit to the apex court
was against NTPC's interests and the assurance made in the House by Finance Minister
Pranab Mukherjee. This is the second time this year that Yadav has raised the
issue in the House. Earlier, on July 29, he had raised the issue of supply of
gas to the Dadri power plant. Anil Ambani has accused the Petroleum Ministry of
helping his brother Mukesh, in his decision to go back on his commitment to supply
gas to the Dadri plant being planned by him. |
