Author of book describing marriage a moral rape suffers public outrage | An author of a book describing the concept of marriage as
'a moral rape' had a tough time on the release function when members of a cultural group publicly humiliated him, here on Friday. Hundreds of activists belonging to Sankriti Bachao Manch and 'Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP) protested
the launch ceremony of Rishi Ajaydas's Hindi book titled 'Vivah - Ek Naitik Balatkar'
(Marriage, a moral rape) as they found it an attempt to belittle the institution
of marriage viewed highly in Indian culture. They claimed the contents of the
book is an insult to marriage institution and an attack on Indian ethos. While
manhandling the author Ajaydas, some activists tried to blacken his face, but
police prevented them. Sanskriti Bachao Manch convener, Chandrashekhar Tiwari said: "If someone tries to launch an attack on our culture then we can
even take more severe action than this. This was just a trailer and if someone
attacks our culture then obviously we will not tolerate it." Love Guru Mukut Nath
Chowdhary, the elderly man who married a student of his daughter's age a few years
ago, was supposed to launch the book. "The book is in the interest of nation.
These activists of VHP are trying to malign the nation besides heading the country
towards hell whereas this book tries to give a right direction to the country,"
Chowdhary said. Meanwhile, the state police have initiated an investigation into
the incident. Bhopal Superintendent of Police Sitaram Patidar said: "Police is
investigating the matter and we will take appropriate action against all accused." |
