Won't allow 'political jokers' to topple democratically elected PPP Govt: Zardari | Undeterred by continuous attempts to malign his image and destabilise the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led government, President Asif Ali Zardari has vowed
to counter all conspiracies being carried out by whom he called 'political jokers'.
Addressing the party workers in a live telecast, Zardari said he would not allow
people to succeed in their malicious plans of destabilising the government. "These
pranksters should not [be allowed to] waste the time of the masses ... it is the
constitutional right of the democratically elected government to complete its
five-year term," The Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying. He warned that political
conspiracies against the PPP and the government would not be allowed to succeed.
"Political parties or the establishment do not want to derail the system ... it
is only a handful of political actors. They should wait for their turn till the
next elections," Zardari added. Reacting to criticism for highlighting his Sindhi
origin and wearing a Sindhi cap during his recent Afghan visit, Zardari said:"The
pranksters masquerading as political actors don't know that Sindhu (Indus) is
today's Pakistan.' Describing terrorism as "murderous cancer for the country",
the President said Pakistan would continue its fight against terror. |
