Family of murdered Brit Indian woman continues to live in nightmare | The family of Brit Indian Geeta Aulakh, who was left mutilated and dying in a London street, is "living in a nightmare" and has yet to come to terms after
the brutal murder of the mother of two. Aulakh, 28, was found by passers-by with
fatal head injuries after being attacked with a sword-like weapon while walking
to pick her two sons up from a childminder. The Sun quoted her sister Anita Shinh,
as saying: "It feels like we are living in a nightmare and we expect to wake up
every day. It's like something you see on TV. You can't believe it's happened
to your family, to your mother, your sister, your brother. We can't believe it."
"My younger brother is still in shock. We do not know what to do with ourselves,
we can't eat or sleep. Our only thought now is the children. We just want to be
strong for the children." Aulakh's sons, Tejdeep, eight, and Karam, ten, cannot
understand why their mother will not come home. "Listening to them ask for their
mummy breaks our hearts and finding the words to tell them that their mother is
no more - words cannot describe it. When one of Geeta's boys asked where his mummy
is, I told him she is the brightest star in the sky now," Anita said. "They have
lost their mummy. Obviously they do not know the ins and outs of it all, but they
know that mummy is not going to tuck them into bed tonight. One said 'is she going
to come one final time to say goodbye? They are just too young to understand,"
she added. Aulakh, who worked as a receptionist at an Asian radio station, is
believed to have been threatened in the months before her death. Anita added that
her sister was in an "unhappy marriage" and had separated from her husband of
11 years 12 months ago and began divorce proceedings recently. Meanwhile, Sher
Singh, 18, of Southall, West London, who has been charged with Geeta's murdered,
today appeared at Ealing Magistrates' Court. He was remanded in custody to appear
before the Old Bailey on March 1 next year. |
