Madhu Koda is a simple man, not a corrupt politician, says his father | Rasika Koda, father of former Jharkhand Chief Minster Madhu Koda, on Friday defended his son and said that his son is a simple man and not a corrupt politician who indulged in money laundering to amass wealth and allied assets. While talking to the media at Patahatu, the native
village of Kodas in Jharkhand's Singhbum district, the 68- year-old father, sternly
ruled out his son Madhu Koda's involvement in the scams, which is believed to
be in the range of Rs 400 crore. "He (Madhu Koda) doesn't steal from anyone. He
never fights with anyone either. He is same the way he was in his school. He is
a very simple man," Rasika Koda said. While, Damu Singh, a childhood friend of
the former State chief, said: "He is a good man as I know him from the childhood."
The Enforcement Directorate had charged Koda and his former Cabinet colleagues
under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on October 9, for allegedly
amassing assets worth several hundred crores. Estimated at Rs 300 to 400 crore,
his investments are allegedly spread from Singapore to Thailand to Dubai to Liberia.
Koda is currently admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Apollo Hospital in
Ranchi, after he complained of health complications such as pain in his abdomen,
giddiness, nausea, and vomiting, and was admitted in a city hospital on Tuesday
(November 03). Income Tax sleuths have indicated that Madhu Koda will be arrested
as soon as he is discharged from the hospital in Ranhi. |
