Crouch desperate to be part of Capello's 'Plan A' |
Tottenham striker Peter Crouch
does not know what more he needs to do to prove himself to England boss Fabio
Capello to be part of the team as the countdown for World Cup in South Africa
begins. The 6ft 7in striker bagged a double in the final World Cup qualifier against
Belarus to take his strike rate to seven in six starts. "I feel confident, I've
never let anyone down. Whenever I've come in I've scored goals and played well.
I would prefer to be 'Plan A' than 'Plan B'. The manager has to continue to pick
his team and I just have to give him something to think about, which is what I've
done," The Sun quoted Crouch, as saying. "If we were losing games I could go and
speak to the manager. But I'm not going to be the first one to argue with him!
I want to be playing all the time for England but when called upon I will continue
to do what I have done," he added. Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is the only
assured choice to lead England 's forward line at next summer's finals in South
Africa , the paper said. Crouch, Aston Villa 's Heskey and Carlton Cole from West
Ham will slug it out for the role of target man in the final 23-man squad, it
added. |
