WASHINGTON: Former US ambassador to the United Nations and South Carolina Governor
Nikky Haley has been nominated to the board of governors of the Boeing company,
world's leading aircraft manufacturer.
Nikky Haley left the job at the UN in December last.
Nikky Haley is likely to be elected as a director at the company’s annual shareholders
meeting on April 29.
“Ambassador Haley brings to Boeing an outstanding record of achievement in
government, industry partnership, and successfully driving economic prosperity
for communities in America and around the world,” according to a company statement.
Nikky Haley said in a statement, “Not only is Boeing the largest aerospace
company in the world and America’s biggest exporter, it also understands the
importance of teamwork and building community through its network of suppliers
in all 50 states and around the world.”
Nikky Haley had graduated from Clemson University and has a bachelor’s degree
in accounting. A Representative in South Carolina, she became Governor in 2011.
She was appointed US ambassador to the UN in January 2017, and now has left
it.
