Schools near LoC in Rajouri closed after Pak shelling

SRINAGAR: All Government and private schools within 5 km of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district will remain closed on Wednesday as precaution as Pakistani troops continued firing of mortar shells across the border. The Pakistani firing follows the IAF strikes on terror camps in Balakot.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency on Tuesday carried out searches at the houses of separatists in a bid to trace funding of terrorists and separatists in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. A "high-tech internet communication setup" was unearthed from the residence of sparatist leader rMirwaiz Umer Farooq.

The NIA team swooped on the houses of separatist leaders, including the Mirwaiz, Naseem Geelani, son of pro-Pakistan separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and chairman of Tehrek-e-Hurriyat Ashraf Sehrai, the agency said.

"During the searches, NIA teams recovered incriminating documents including property papers, financial transactions receipts and bank account details. Electronic devices including laptops, e-tablets, mobile phones, pen drives, communication system and DVRs were also seized during the searches," the NIA spokesperson said, reports PTI.

Documents relating to admission in Pakistan-based educational institutions were recovered.

"The searched premises included those belonging to top separatist leaders namely Yaseen Malik, Chairman JKLF, Shabir Shah, President JKDFP, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Chairman Awami Action Committee, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat,Masarat Alam, General Secretary APHC, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Chairman JKSM and Naseem Geelani, son of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani," the NIA said.
