Kannada writer De Ja Gow passes away

     

Bengaluru: Prominent Kannada writer and poet D Javare Gowda, popularly known as 'De Ja Go', passed away at a hospital in Mysuru on Monday evening. De Ja Gow, 101, who also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University, was admitted to the hospital after facing a cardiac problem.

Gowda has made significant contributions to Kannada literature. He promoted Kannada language as the medium of instruction in the schools. He had led a struggle and undertook indefinite fast to make Kannada a classical language.
