Indian television actress of 'Anandi' fame Pratyusha Banerjee's tragic end has left poignantly mysterious questions that will have no answers!
MUMBAI: Pratyusha Banerjee, an Indian television actress who had appeared in
numerous TV shows and rose to fame with her portrayal of 'Anandi' in 'Balika
Vadhu,' reportedly committed suicide by hanging at her home in Mumbai on Friday.
Pratyusha was declared dead when brought to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri by
her actor boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. It is rumoured that the 24-year-old actress's
love affair with Rahul was on the rocks.
The police questioned Rahul but her parents have not raised any suspicion against
him. However, reports said both had been fighting last few days. He had gone out
during the afternoon when the tragedy took place which he himself discovered on
return a while later.
Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted, 'This is just so sad...and a wake up calm to
families and friends who don't consider depression a medical condition...RIP
#PratyushaBanerjee.' Actor Rishi Kapoor wrote, 'What a shame! Such a lovely
person should suicide! Who knows the turmoil within her. RIP.'
Hailing from Jharkhand, Pratyusha got to fame with her role in 'Balika Vadhu.' She
was later seen in the reality dance show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa,' 'Bigg Boss 7' and
hosted some episodes of 'Savdhan India.'
A report said Pratyusha was earlier dating a businessman, Makrand Malhotra. She
had lodged a complaint against him for abusing her.
Sources said, the appearance of the body did not corroborate suicide by hanging nor
the style of discovery of the tragedy. It is also claimed that she was too strong a
personality that she could commit suicide. Singh's parents denied a report of
acute financial distress. However, Pratyusha's last Whatsapp remark that read
'Mar Ke Bhi Munh Na Tujse Modna' was indicative of the end. Investigations are on
into the veracity of various claims.
