Pakistan International Airlines staff on indefinite strike: All flights cancelled | February 3, 2016
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's flag carrier airliner Pakistan International Airlines cancelled all its domestic and international flights on Wednesday as the countrywide strike by its employees entered the second day.
The employees are demanding, among others, scrapping of a Bill passed on January 21
last converting the airlines into a public limited company. The pilots and airport staff are on indefinite strike. Three workers were shot dead in clashes between security forces and the airlines staff at Karachi airport.
There was a huge number of air passengers stranded at all major airports like Jinnah
International Airport in Karachi, Benazir International Airport in Islamabad, Allama
Iqbal International Airport in Lahore and Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar.
The Government has threatened to sack the striking employees and has approached
private airlines to meet the traffic demands.
