Bobby Jindal criticized over campaign travels | Various American newspapers have criticized Indian-origin Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a prospective 2016 presidential candidate whose recent campaign travels have come under scrutiny. The Times-Picayune whacked Jindal for his ‘heavy travel rotation’, while the Des Moines Register editorial board “took the unusual step of singling the governor out for his ‘temerity’ in campaigning at the Iowa judicial retention
race before bashing Louisiana’s own court system”. “A thistle to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal for having the temerity to come here to lecture Iowans about their judges,” the Des Moines Register wrote. “Jindal was on the recent bus tour across the state campaigning to unseat Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins. This
is the governor of a state whose courts have consistently been ranked No. 49 out of the 50 states in the respected state courts survey by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,” Politico quoted the Des Moines Register, as stating. “In Marshalltown , Jindal got a laugh with the remark that ‘some of these judges, they actually make the
replacement refs in the NFL look like geniuses’”, the Des Moines Register added. According to the report, the travel criticism is par for the course for politically ambitious governors. Maryland Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley, another frequent traveler and 2016 prospect, has also taken heat for his out-of-state itineraries. |
