Ban on LTTE should be lifted: Vaiko | Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief, V Gopalsamy, popularly known as 'Vaiko', has argued before the
tribunal court in Chennai that the ban imposed by the Central Government on Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) should be lifted. Vaiko informed media today that
he has put forth documents to support his claim. "I placed the clarification through
his lordship for which the director had no direct answer. I wanted to know how
many cases have been framed against the supporters of LTTE in these 24 months.
He simply said many cases; he could not give the number. Then I asked how many
organisations have been branded as pro-LTTE organisations in Tamil Nadu," he said.
"For that simple question also he said many organisations, I can't give the number.
Then I told the judge he has not read out contents of the affidavit. I asked him
about any cases registered against the supporters or any agents of LTTE for an
attempt to forge understanding with the Maoists and other organisations because
it was mentioned here. For that also he could not give any answer," he added.
Vaiko said he would again place his arguments in the court on Saturday for seeking
revocation of ban on LTTE. Vaiko is known for his support to LTTE and other organisations,
which have been protesting for a separate state of Tamils in Sri Lanka. |
