Islamabad police submits interim charge sheet in Christian 'blasphemy' girl case | Police in Islamabad has reportedly submitted an interim
charge-sheet in the blasphemy case against the 14-year-old Christian girl, Rimsha Masih. Police submitted the interim charge sheet in the court of district and
sessions judge Islamabad Raja Jawad Abbas. According to the Dawn, the civil judge,
Amir Aziz Khan, who had been hearing the case, had gone on leave. The case could
not be heard because he wasn't present. According to the report, the district
attorney raised objections on certain points in the charge sheet. He later signed
the charge sheet along with his note of objections, the report said. Rimsha, who
is said to be suffering from Down's Syndrome, was arrested on August 16 after
a neighbour accused her of burning papers containing verses from the Quran, in
breach of Pakistan's strict blasphemy laws. On September 7, the court had granted
bail to Rimsha against two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each.
