US Open: Paes- Dlouhy sails into second round | India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy sailed into the second round of the US Open men's doubles event. The Paes- Dlouhy pair registered a win over Romanian pair of Victor Hanescue and Grabriel Trifu in first round. The fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated their rivals 7-6 (11), 7-6 (4) to reach the second round. The fourth
seeded Indo-Czech pair took 107 minutes to complete the win. It was a hard fought
match with Paes and Dlouhy playing the crucial points better and winning both
the sets in the tiebreaker. Paes and Dlouhy who were runners up in last year,
would be looking to continue the trend to go one better this time. Mahesh Bhupathi
and Bahmaian Knowles the winners of Montreal Masters are yet to open their campaign
in the US open. The Bhupathi- Knowles duo is scheduled to play against American
James Cerretani and Lovro Zovko of Croatia. Earlier, on Monday, Somdev Devvarman
and Sania Mirza notched up a rare double for India's campaign at the US Open by
advancing to the second round. Mirza opened with a roller coaster 6-2, 3-6, 6-3
win over Olga Govortsova of Belarus in women's singles qualifier, while Devvrman
defeated the Portugal's Frederico Gil 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in the men's competition.
