US suspends diplomatic missions in Pakistan over security concerns | | The United States has halted public dealing in all its diplomatic missions in Pakistan due to continuing protests against the anti-Islam film for the third consecutive day. According to a statement issued by the U.S. embassy in
Islamabad , all diplomatic missions in the country would be closed for public
due to mounting security concerns. U.S. diplomatic personnel were shifted to an
undisclosed location as angry protesters advanced towards the diplomatic building,
reports The Nation. Earlier on Tuesday, the police had to use tear gas to disperse
a crowd of more than 2,000 protesters trying to reach the US consulate in Peshawar
. In Lahore , up to 900 people demonstrated near the U.S. consulate, calling President
Obama a "dog". Police with armoured vehicles were deployed to block access to
the consulate in Peshawar , the main city in country's restive northwest, where
Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants have strongholds. Pakistan, along with Afghanistan
and Bangladesh have blocked access to YouTube, following the video-sharing website's
failure to take down the anti-Islam film - Innocence of Muslims - made by an Israeli-American
called Sam Becile.
