The anti-nuclear plant protestors on Tuesday set fire to the village panchayat office here. This followed violent protests against loading of fuel at the contentious Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant here. Television reports suggest that police have driven out the protestors from the area after the incident, as prohibitory orders continue to remain in place. Earlier, on Monday, the anti-nuke protests turned violent, killing a 44-year old fisherman, as the police had to resort to firing tear guess shells and baton charge the protestors, who tried to take the plant under siege.
