Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has been urged to sign a fresh contract with McLaren and not go for a Mercedes deal. Former driver and team boss Sir Jackie Stewart has told Hamilton to shun a move to Mercedes, even if they are willing to stump up 100 million pounds over three years. "I would have to say stay with McLaren. They have the resources and the money, the commitment and also have huge experience," The Sun quoted Stewart, as saying. "Lewis would not be here today without McLaren, so there is a degree of loyalty you should always have. He has been a big player in the sport and made a huge amount of money and that is largely down to McLaren not to Lewis," he added. Hamilton has been linked to switching teams with Mercedes after rumors surfaced that the Brackley-based team was willing to shell out any amount to get the Brit on board. But 73-year-old Stewart said that McLaren have F1 in their blood and he believes they can deliver more wins for Hamilton. "They were the ones who gave him the break and they have made him the driver he is. He's a very lucky boy.After you make a certain amount of money, you are not going to make a lot more or less whether you go to one team or another," he said. "In fact, money is nothing to do with it.There is a risk that when you go to a new team, it can take you 24 months to settle down. You have to get used to new engineers, new management, new cultures and new ways of doing things," he added.

Jackie Stewart advises Hamilton to stay at McLaren
