Foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan met here on Friday to fine tune the agenda for Saturday's ministerial bilateral talks between the two countries. Foreign Secretaries Ranjan Mathai and Jalil Abbas Jilani took stock of the progress made in bilateral ties and also charted the course to be taken for the next round of talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. External Affairs Minister S. M Krishna is scheduled to hold formal talks with Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Saturday. The Composite Dialogue -- broken off after the November 2008 attacks on Mumbai in which 166 people were killed, and which India said were carried out by Pakistan-based militants -- was resumed last year. Meanwhile upon his arrival in Islamabad, Krishna said that he was optimistic about the outcome of the talks. "I am very happy to visit Islamabad at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and my esteemed colleague Hina Rabbani Khar. I bring a message of goodwill from India for the people of Pakistan," Krishna said. "I wish to reiterate the desire of India to see a stable and prosperous Pakistan living in peace with itself and the world. That would be in the best interest of everyone," he added. Krishna will call on Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf later in the day. He will also hold meetings with leaders of various Pakistan political parties. This is Krishna's second visit to Pakistan since 2010.
