Blake becomes second fastest with 9.69sec 100m win in Diamond League | Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake breezed to a blistering victory in the 100m event at the Diamond League in Lausanne, clocking a personal best time of 9.69 sec, which
also made him the second fastest performer in this category. World champion Blake, who was silver medallist behind the world's fastest man Usain Bolt at the London Olympics, finished ahead of American sprinter Tyson Gay in 9.83sec and Nesta Carter of Jamaica in 9.95sec. Blake improved his previous personal best of 9.75sec to move into second place on the all-time performers list, which he now shares with
Gay who has also run 9.69sec. Only Bolt with 9.58sec and 9.63sec has run faster
than the duo. "I am delighted. I have been sick all week with flu but I am glad
I recovered. My coach (Glen Mills) had told me that I could run faster than 9.75sec,
a lot faster," Sports24 quoted Blake, as saying. Bolt, who comprehensively won
the 200m race with a timing of 19.58sec at the Diamonds League, said he always
knew Blake would dominate Thursday's 100m. "I saw him in training and I could
tell he was going to run fast," said Bolt.
