Sikhs in a 'state of shock' after Wisconsin gurdwara shooting

Sikhs residing in the United States are in a state of shock over a gunman shooting six people and injuring three others at a Sikh gurdwara on Sunday in the Milwakee suburb of Oak Creek. Witnesses said the gunman began shooting as soon as he entered the kitchen of the gurdwara. According to New York Daily News, Mohan Singh Khatra's 70-year-old uncle was among the six people shot in the attack. Khatra, the chairman of the Sikh Cultural Society, said he had spoken to his uncle just last night, and was expecting to stay at his house for a wedding. Now, he, along with other members of the society, may instead have to attend his funeral. "I'm still in shock. It's a bad situation, it's really sad," Khatra said. Other Sikhs, who were celebrating the anniversary of Sikh saint Isher Singh Rarewale, were stunned by the shooting. "Whatever happened there, was not right," Joginder Singhriar, a preacher at Baba Makhan Shah Lubana Gurdwara Sikh center, said. "What we are doing is something right in the name of God and what happened is not fair," he added.
