Americans' opinion on gun control unchanged despite horrific 'Dark Knight' massacre: Poll | America's opinion on gun control has not changed at all, even after the recent horrific killing of a dozen people at movie hall in Colorado, a new poll has revealed. The poll conducted by Pew Research Center for the People & the Press
found that 47 percent of US citizens now advocate more gun control, while an almost
an equal number, 46 per cent, supported protecting Americans' right to own and
bear arms. A similar poll conducted in April discovered that 45 per cent of Americans
prioritized gun control and 49 per cent gun rights, the Daily Mail reports. The
latest poll results came after James Holmes, 24, allegedly opened fire on a crowd
of people attending the midnight premier of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight
Rises. According to the paper, the Pew Research Center also polled respondents
on the context in which they view this most recent mass shooting. Sixty-seven
per cent said such shootings are the isolated acts of troubled individuals. Twenty-four
per cent felt that such shootings reflect broader problems in US.
