AP High Court rejects Jagan Reddy's bail plea in disproportionate assets case | The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday rejected YSR Congress Party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy's plea for bail in connection with disproportionate assets case. The high court
said that it agreed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI and a CBI court's
contention that Reddy was not eligible for bail in connection with the case. The
bail plea was rejected even as Jagan Reddy's mother Y.S. Vijayamma reached Delhi
to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other Union Ministers to highlight the
alleged partisan manner in which the CBI was probing the illegal assets case against
her son. The YSR Congress delegation comprises Nellore Member of Parliament Mekapati
Rajamohan Reddy, Members of the Legislative Assembly Shoba Nagi Reddy and M. Sucharita.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Rajamohan Reddy said the party’s honorary president
would also raise the issue of farmers’ plight with Union Agriculture Minister
Sharad Pawar. He demanded that the Centre appoint a Supreme Court judge to probe
the functioning of CBI. Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana
is also in Delhi to seek clearance for the new Pradesh Congress Committee executive.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member Palvai Goverdhan Reddy has reportedly received an
invitation from Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to meet him on Wednesday.
