Relief for BJP: Yeddyurappa's loyalists withdraw resignations | The ongoing political crisis in Karnataka seems
to have come to an end this morning, as former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's
loyalists have withdrawn their resignations. "Those ministers, who have resigned
from Sadananda Gowda's Cabinet have withdrawn their resignation. We are heading
for a political solution in Karnataka. High Command is aware about all aspects
of Karnataka. Appropriate action will be taken at appropriate time," BJP's Karnataka
in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan told the media in New Delhi . Karnataka Chief Minister
D.V. Sadananda Gowda, however, today said that he has not received any message
in this regard. "So far, I have not received any message from them, but I have
requested them to withdraw their resignations. And if there is any problem, we
will sit down and chalk it out. And I told that even the interference by the central
leadership, we will seek their help and go ahead," Gowda told the media in Bangalore
. "I am going to attend the reception of Nitin Gadkari's son marriage, and my
central leadership has called me to have a dialogue," he added. Yeddyurappa loyalist
minister Jagadish Shettar earlier today informed that the nine Karnataka ministers
have decided to withdraw their resignations. Yeddyurappa loyalists, who had charged
Gowda of running the administration on the diktat of the Janata Dal Secular and
not taking his Cabinet colleagues into confidence, had earlier mounted pressure
on the BJP central leadership and set July 5 as the deadline for removal of the
chief minister. The crisis in the Karnataka BJP intensified on Friday with nine
ministers loyal to Yeddyurappa resigned from the State Cabinet thereby projecting
a show of strength in their campaign for ousting Chief Minister Gowda. The ministers,
who quit earlier were Jagadish Shettar (Rural Development), CM Udasi (PWD), Murugesh
Nirani (Industries), V Somanna (Housing), Umesh Katti (Agriculture), Basavaraj
Bommai (Water Resources), Revu Naik Belamagi (Libraries and Animal Husbandry),
M P Renukacharya (Excise) and Raju Gowda (Small Scale Industries).
