Rains cause severe flooding in Arunachal Pradesh | Several pockets of Arunachal Pradesh are battling severe flooding due to torrential rains since last week. The situation is grim in Anjaw, Lohit, Changlang, Dibang Valley districts and Tuting sub-division in Upper Siang while Siang River is flowing above the
danger mark in Pasighat. The India Meteorological Department has predicted more
rainfall in the next 48 hours. Local administration rescued hundred people using
country boats from Bijoypur 1, under Bordumsa circle. They were later shifted
to the relief camp. ADC Kento Riba informed that army boats would be pressed into
service at Bijoypur III where fifty five families are still stranded. The flood
situation at Diyun Circle is also in a critical stage. Noa Dehing River is flowing
above danger level at Maitripur, Gautampur, Santipur, Jyotipur, Dumpani and Mudoi
village. At Namsai and Mahadevpur area, Noa-Dehing overflowed the embankment at
Silatoo, Satgoria and Dharampur. More than fifty houses are still under water
in the area. During an emergency meeting of District Disaster Management, Deputy
Commissioner RK Mishra informed that the District Administration is closely monitoring
the developments.
