Defeated Egyptian presidential candidate calls Islamist Morsi 'ghost without authority' | Former Egyptian
presidential candidate Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh has said that new Islamist President
Mohammed Morsi is a 'ghost without the will or authority of a real president.'
Abul-Fotouh suggested that Morsi couldn't be effective in his new post due to
continued control of politics by ruling military. He blamed both the Supreme Council
of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and the Muslim Brotherhood for the mistakes of the
transitional period, The Guardian reports. According to the paper, Morsi of the
Muslim Brotherhood spent his first day in office on Monday locked in discussions
with the military over choosing his cabinet. Morsi found himself in the office
once occupied by Hosni Mubarak, who is now in a critical condition in a hospital
after being handed a life sentence. His first order of business was to begin discussions
on a presidential team and his cabinet.
