Maria Sharapova becomes richest sportswoman of all time | Maria Sharapova, who recently won the French Open title by overcoming Italian Sara Errani, has reportedly become the richest woman in sporting history. Sharapova,
earned a million dollars in prize money, which will be added to the other 20 million
that she has won over her career. Bonuses in the 25-year-old Russian beauty’s
contract have also started to kick in now and over the next months will add another
20m pounds to her bank balance, which already holds a 90m pounds treasure chest
from sponsorship and advertising deals. The tennis ace has now won all four Grand
Slam titles, a feat achieved by only nine other women. But still she craves for
more. “I’m not going to stop now,” the daily Express quoted her as saying. “I
am rich, I am famous, but I just love competing. Nothing in the world gives the
adrenaline feel of being in a match. Nothing I have done in my life brings me
the pressure, nerves and excitement of putting myself on the line,” she said.
“It’s no good being a great actress if nobody comes to see you. Or the greatest
model in the world because if someone doesn’t put you on the cover of a magazine
you are never going to be famous. “This is sport. It’s all in your own hands.
That’s what I love about it, that you can control your wins and losses,” she added.
