Black money issue: Ramdev meets Chandrababu Naidu | Yoga guru Baba Ramdev met Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu here
today and sought his cooperation and support in the movement to retrieve black
money stashed away in foreign banks. Baba Ramdev had earlier said the motive behind
his meetings with leaders of various political outfits is to build a consensus
on the black money and corruption issues. Baba Ramdev said that he will meet Left,
UPA and NDA alliance partners to get support for his campaign to bring back black
money stashed in tax havens abroad. "I am meeting all the parties to create a
political consensus on the matter," said Baba Ramdev. "This movement is not against
a person or a political party. It is for the benefit of the country," he added.
Baba Ramdev further said that he would also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi
and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the black money issue in the days to
come. He had earlier met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari,
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit
Singh and Akali Dal supremo Parkash Singh Badal. Baba Ramdev has been at loggerheads
with the government over a range of national issues for the past many months.
The outspoken yoga guru had also called on the government last year to pursue
billions of dollars in illegal funds abroad and the withdrawal of high denomination
bank notes.
