Air India on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commonwealth
Organising Committee for being the official carrier of the Commonwealth Games
2010. The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be held between 3 and 14 of October in
New Delhi, and will be India's first major international sports event after the
1982 Asian Games. "We have been designated official partner of the Commonwealth
Games. We would ensure world-class services for the athletes and other members
of the contingents, who will come here to take part in the games," said Arvind
Jadhav, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India. Jadhav further said that
Air India would put forth the Indian hospitality to the world and will arrange
for special holiday packages for the visiting enthusiasts. "We are proud to state
that we today have embarked on trying to get the youngest fleets equipped with
the state of the art technology with an in-flight experience that will compare
with the best in the world," Jadhav said. "We are also creating holiday packages
around with very special rates and all that around this particular event, so that
not only the officials but also the large number of people and the spectators
who are going to come they would be able to enjoy not only the hospitality of
the Commonwealth Games and the Indians but we would like to put forth the Indian
